JPSC Examination Irregularities Case
Former Chairman L. Khyangte's Passport Seized; CID Interrogation Continues
Ranchi: The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the alleged irregularities in the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Civil Services Examination has intensified. The case involves allegations of manipulation of OMR answer sheets and other examination-related irregularities. As part of the investigation, the passport of former JPSC Chairman and former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, L. Khyangte, has been seized.
Key Developments
• Extended Interrogation: On 28 July, the CID questioned L. Khyangte for nearly eight hours. His passport was confiscated to prevent him from leaving the country during the ongoing investigation. He has been summoned again for further questioning on 29 July.
• Focus of the Investigation: The CID is examining alleged irregularities in the conduct of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination, including the manipulation of OMR answer sheets and the alleged involvement of the examination agency TDPL.

Background
L. Khyangte was appointed as the Chairman of JPSC in February 2025. Following allegations of examination malpractice and a CID raid at his residence, he resigned from the post. His resignation was subsequently accepted by the Governor of Jharkhand. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing.

रांची: झारखंड लोक सेवा आयोग (JPSC) की 14वीं सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में कथित धांधली, OMR उत्तर पुस्तिकाओं में हेरफेर तथा परीक्षा संचालन में अनियमितताओं के मामले में अपराध अन्वेषण विभाग (CID) की जाँच तेज़ हो गई है। जाँच के तहत आयोग के पूर्व अध्यक्ष एवं झारखंड के पूर्व मुख्य सचिव एल. ख्यांगते का पासपोर्ट ज़ब्त कर लिया गया है।

CID ने 28 जुलाई को एल. ख्यांगते से लगभग 8 घंटे तक पूछताछ की। जाँच के दौरान उनके देश से बाहर जाने की संभावना को रोकने के लिए उनका पासपोर्ट ज़ब्त कर लिया गया। उन्हें 29 जुलाई को पुनः पूछताछ के लिए बुलाया गया है।

JPSC अभ्यर्थियों ने 29 जुलाई को रांची में धरना-प्रदर्शन की घोषणा की है। उनकी मांग है कि भविष्य की परीक्षाएँ निष्पक्ष एवं पारदर्शी ढंग से आयोजित की जाएँ तथा दोषियों के विरुद्ध कड़ी कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाए।

एल. ख्यांगते ने फरवरी 2025 में JPSC के अध्यक्ष का पद संभाला था। परीक्षा में धांधली के आरोप लगने और उनके आवास पर CID की छापेमारी के बाद उन्होंने अपने पद से इस्तीफ़ा दे दिया। बाद में झारखंड के राज्यपाल ने उनका इस्तीफ़ा स्वीकार कर लिया। इस पूरे मामले की जाँच अभी भी जारी है।
